Les Watson
Peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital on Friday, May 11, 2012, Mr. Les Watson of Rathwell, Manitoba passed away at the age of 81 years.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife Marian (née George), four children: Susan (George) Friesen, Jackie (Gary) Sallows, Clayton (Cecile) Watson and Debbie (Fred) Rawson; 9 grandchildren: Murray (Michelle) Moran, Rhonda (Craig) Linde, Carly (Josh) Sallows-Harrie, Jarret Sallows, Monique (Joey) Foidart, Richard (Brooke) Furet, Nicole, Andrew and Travis; 5 great-grandchildren: Grady, Milla, Magnus, Cole and Zack. Also left to mourn his passing are his siblings: Doreen (Wendell) Fewster, Andy (Pearl) Watson and Lyle (Gail) Watson and brother-in-law Desmond George and sister-in-law June George along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Les was predeceased by his parents Robert Stanley Watson and Alice Gertrude Turnbull and sister Francis (Murray) Sargeant.
Les was born on the old Watson homestead south of Rathwell in 1930. He spent the majority of his life in the Rathwell area. He was married to Marion Bell George in Winnipeg in 1953. They moved to Fort William Thunder Bay where he worked as a fireman on the CPR. They moved back to Rathwell in 1956 to fulfill his dream of farming. They settled in the Indian Ford District. In 1962 they moved to the Harry Sorton farm. After many years he then retired from farming and resided in Rathwell. Like his father, he was always interested in horses. He raised and raced Thoroughbred horses for several years while enjoying the outdoors and all of natures gifts.
Funeral Services will be held in the Rathwell Memorial Hall on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Warren Marsh officiating.
