Lionel Menard
Peacefully at his residence in Elie, Manitoba on April 30, 2023, Lionel Menard passed away at the age of 84 years.
He leaves to mourn his passing his two daughters Lynne (Jeff) Williment, Susan Demkowsky (Allan), his 7 grandchildren Stephanie (Julian) Legal, Steven Knelsen, Brandon Williment, Jessica Belhumeur (Ben), Curtis Belhumeur, Lindsay Copp (Riley), Danica Demkowsky and 3 great- grandchildren Grayson, Everett and Saylor Graham. He also leaves to mourn his siblings, Fernand Menard, Angele Loughlin, Merise Ash, Ann Marie (Ed) Schneider, Denis (Noella) Menard and Rita (Gary) Chambers, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, many relatives, and friends.
Lionel is predeceased by his parents Romeo and Germaine Menard, his brothers, Louis, Gilbert and Roger and his brother-in-law Tom Loughlin and David Ash.
Lionel was well loved by his daughters, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. His face lit up the room whenever one of his grandchildren or great grandchildren came to visit. No matter how he was feeling that day, their presence made his day. He loved to ask them what was new and welcomed their hugs.
Lionel was well known in his community having worked for 53 years for Ford. For most of those years he was the Parts Manager at Wilf’s Elie Ford. He was a regular at the local coffee shop where he met up daily with his friends.
The past 6 years were challenging for Lionel as his health declined and more than once he said to his daughters how lucky he was to have his girls who were able to help him and support him to remain in his home.
