Lloyd Edward Chalmers
March 18, 1933 - February 25, 2022
With family by his side, Lloyd passed away peacefully at Rock Lake Personal Care Home on February 25, 2022 at the age of 88 years.
Lloyd was a gentle spirit who loved family, farming, and his community. He learned the value of hard work from a young age and was a progressive farmer who took pride in his grain and cattle operation. He was privileged over time, to farm alongside both his father Ed and his son Jan in the Kingsley Community.
In his early years Lloyd enjoyed being involved in many sports including hockey, baseball, and curling. He attended the University of Manitoba where he obtained his Diploma of Agriculture. He and his wife Sharon raised six children. Lloyd enjoyed curling, puzzles, and he was a master of cribbage. We were fortunate if he didn’t skunk us. Dad always had a peppermint to share with children or grandchildren. Lloyd was a great neighbour who supported others around him as their needs arose.
Lloyd was predeceased by his wife Sharon (nee Windsor) in 2016, and his eldest son Murray in 2019. He leaves to mourn his children, Patti (Bill Matheson), Jan (Svetlana Maksymovych), Norma (Don Cnudde), Nancy (Doug Furness), and Leigh. Also left to mourn are his grandchildren, David, Breanne, Nick, Katie, Roberta, Tori, Kelsey, Allison, Shannon, Gillian, Ian, Scott, Madison and Reese, as well as five great grandchildren. Lloyd is also mourned by his loving sister Doreen Bromley and her family.
Our family wishes to thank the compassionate staff of Rock Lake Personal Care Home who took such good care of our Dad over the past six years. Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Lloyd’s Life will take place on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Graveside service and interment of ashes will be held at Kingsley Cemetery at 11 am.
