Madelyn Knockaert passed away peacefully at the Notre Dame Foyer on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the age of 91 years.

She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Margaret (Lloyd) Buydens, Charles Knockaert, James (Helen) Knockaert, Lawrence (Kim) Knockaert, Albert (Noella) Knockaert and daughter-in-law Lorraine Fouasse; her grandchildren, Darlene (Nico), Dolores (Martin) / Aaron (Tina), Shannon (Carl) / Stephanie (Lance), Andrew (Leslie), Nicole (Adrian), Colin (Lisa) / Amanda (Wes), Sheena (Katon), Shawn (Jasmin), Jared (Patrick) / Patrick (Courtney), Chantal (Colin), Danica (Katie); her great-grandchildren, Alex (Sadye), Mackenzie, Tyler, Delaney, Kirsten, Justin, Janik, Taya / Brooke (Thomas), Kaitlyn (Jesse), Olivia (Greg), Jaelyn, Sophia, Braeden, Donald (Mackenzie), Dylan, Alicia, Kayla / Jack, Eva, Gabriella, Noah, Henry, Benjamin, Louis, Felicity / Wyatt, April, Beau, Lincoln, Zoe, Emma, Layla, Emmett, Lexi, Aurora / Emeri, Easton, Maelle, Haddie, Adrian; and her great-great-grandchildren, Stefanie, Ethan / Michael, Emmett / Amelia / and Bennett. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary (Alfred) Wood, Martha (Paul) Vercaigne and Agnes Jarnouin and her sister-in-law Mary Ann Knockaert as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Madelyn was predeceased by her husband Omer in 2000; her parents Louis and Johanna Willemen; her sister Margaret (Hubert) (Gaston) Buydens; her parents-in-law Desiré and Stephanie Knockaert; and by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Lionel Jarnouin, Marcel Knockaert and Mariette (Marcel) Buydens.

Mom was born September 10, 1932 at Bruxelles, Manitoba.  Mom went to Ste. Marie School in Bruxelles and was married to Omer Knockaert April 10, 1951.  Mom and Dad were blessed five children and farmed in the Bruxelles area for many years. Mom enjoyed working on the farm and later in life, loved to cater.  They retired to Bruxelles and after Dad’s passing, she moved to the Holland Manor. She had a great love for her family and her many, many grandchildren. She had a great devotion to her Catholic faith.  She also enjoyed gardening, loved her flowers, music and dancing.  She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.

Prayers and viewing will be held on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. in Bruxelles at the St. Gerard Roman Catholic Church.

Funeral Service will be held at the St. Gerard Roman Catholic Church in Bruxelles, Manitoba on Friday, July 5, 2024. Recitation of the Rosary at 1:30 p.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 2 p.m. with Father Joseph Tran officiating.
