Nee Cameron
Peacefully, with her family by her side, on September 13, 2005 at the Salvation Army Grace Hospice, Peggy passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by daughters Bernie Greenwood and Glenda-lee Allan and son Eric (Marylin) Allan as well as her five grandchildren Allan (Michele) Greenwood, Chris (Melissa) Greenwood, Dale (Faith) Allan and Greg and Nicole Allan. She also leaves to mourn her 6 great grandchildren who were the light of her life- Savanna and Cheyenne Greenwood, Zachary and Dawson Greenwood and Joshua and Seth Allan. She also leaves behind 2 sisters Ethel (Bob) Gatenby, and Lottie Colbow and her brothers and sisters in law- Barbara and Jack Lamb, Joe and Roberta Allan, Margaret and Hartley Woodward, Janice and Glen Smith, Harvey and Rita Allan, Cathy Allan and Mabel Allan-Spender as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Allan in 1995 and her daughter Beverly Allan in 2004 as well as her sister Ruth Jorgenson and 2 brothers Albert and Alan Cameron.
Peggy was born May 18, 1922 at Sybouts, Saskatchewan to Albert and Bertha Cameron. In 1948, she married Walter Allan and raised a family of four at the family farm in Rathwell, Manitoba. She enjoyed a full life and was very active in her community. She was an active member and past president of the Rathwell Ladies Auxiliary. She had many hobbies one of which was painting. Peggy was also a founding member of the Canadian Reform Party. Peggy moved to Winnipeg in 1998 to be closer to her children, grandchildren and eventually her great grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was becoming a great grandmother or GG as she wanted to be called.
The family would like to thank all the Palliative Care Staff of 3 East at Riverview Health Center especially Helen and Sheila who remained close to Mom throughout her final days. We would also like to thank all the staff at the Grace Hospice and Major Cath McFarlane for the compassionate care mom received. We would also like to thank Mom's extended family from the Ness Ave. Baptist Church as well as friends Art and Gigi for being there. Special thanks to Janice and Glen for their love and support.
Funeral services will be held at the Rathwell Community Memorial Hall on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Bob Shepansky of Ness Ave. Baptist Church Wpg, MB officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Ronald Allan, Richard Allan, Jon Lamb, Herb Watson, Grant Lusignan and Jim Huggart. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Rathwell Legion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Riverview Health Center Palliative Care Unit or the Grace Hospice.
