Margaret Scammell

(nee Robertson)

Marg Scammell of Treherne, Manitoba passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026 at the Notre Dame Health Centre at the age of 78 years.

She is survived by her son Jason (Cora), her grandchildren Sadie and Owen, and by her sisters in-law Belle (Bob) Humphreys and Dawn Scammell.

Marg was predeceased by her husband Clare, her parents Douglas and Lolla Robertson (nee Jackson), and by her brother-in-law David Scammell.

Marg was born on August 15th, 1947, in Treherne, Manitoba, where she spent most of her life rooted in the community and in the very house where she grew up.

In 1970, Marg married Clarence Scammell, and together they built a life marked by hard work, and shared memories. In 1975, they returned to the farm in Treherne, where Marg continued to make her home for many years.

She remained in the house she loved until this past winter, before moving into the Notre Dame Foyer in March.

After Jason graduated, Marg began working for the Timmermans, where she became known as the “Sears lady” and then continued with the concrete division. She enjoyed the many familiar faces and conversations that came with the positions.

Marg remained a valued part of the workplace until the fall of 2025, when declining health led her to make the difficult decision to retire.

Marg’s life changed in a very special way in 2013 and again in 2015 with the arrival of her grandchildren. They brought her great joy, and she treasured watching them grow, hearing about their adventures, and sharing in the many little moments that made being a grandmother so meaningful.

Her life was shaped by the familiar rhythms of home, family, and farm, and she carried with her a deep connection to the place and people that meant so much to her.

A Private interment will be held at the Bethel Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to join the family for lunch at the Treherne Friendship Centre on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 2:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tiger Hills Community Foundation, Box 342, Treherne, MB R0G 2V0.
