Marie Falk
(née Wilson)
With heavy and broken hearts, we said good-bye to Marie, a very special mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma after a brief battle with cancer.
Left to cherish Marie’s memory are daughters Lori (Al Olafson, Garrett, Geneva, Ellyse), Jo-Anne (Harry Van Helden, Monica, Mia, Drake, Oliver), Shelley (Zach, Rayne, Seamus, Fionn O'Brien-Moran, John Dalke, Courtney, Grant), Susan (Gary Arnason, Jared, Jaime, Tyler, Sidonie, Jake); Sister-in-law Diane Falk of Langley, BC; sister-in-law, Sadie Wilson (Rathwell), along with many nieces and nephews whose company she always enjoyed. Mom will also be missed by her very special and dear friend Amalia and her great neighbors Sam, Trish, Miguel, Ana, Joyce and her special furry friend Kammie. She was predeceased by her husband Jack; mom and dad, Katie and Bill Wilson; sister Lorna (Kelly) Jackson and brothers Jack (Doris) and Shorty Wilson, and grandson Donnie Van Helden.
Marie grew up in Rathwell, and moved to Winnipeg where she met and married her sweetie in 1958. Mom's true passion was her family, helping others, and spending time with her four-legged friends. Mom’s love of playing baseball led her to capture a hit title as a rookie with a batting average of .352. She also loved curling, camping, traveling, and above all the loud family gatherings, leaving us with many wonderful memories. She was a member of Deer Lodge United Church as well as a volunteer at Deer Lodge Centre taking patients to the chapel service on Sunday mornings. Marie was very proud of her girls and their families. They knew she would do anything for them, including bringing a full turkey dinner out to Falcon Lake in the middle of July for all to enjoy. We truly appreciated her positive outlook and shenanigans even during her hospital stay. She was always positive. Thank you to our extremely caring parents for raising us and our grandchildren with so much love and support.
A Celebration of Marie’s Life will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Prairie Spirit United Church, 207 Thompson Drive in Winnipeg, with family friend Rev. Earl Gould officiating.
