Martha Gerarda Foidart
Martha Foidart (nee Mauws) of Bruxelles, Manitoba passed away at the Notre Dame Foyer on Monday, October 29, 2012 at the age of 90 years.
Martha was born January 20, 1922 and raised on the farm near Swan Lake. Martha was no stranger to hard work, working side by side on the farm with her brothers as she was growing up. On November 4, 1941 she married Paul Foidart and together they first farmed near the Swan Lake Valley, then moved to Mariapolis and then finally to Bruxelles in 1957. She enjoyed a simple life that centered around her family. She could create everything on that Singer sewing machine from blue jeans with fancy pockets, doll clothes for her grandchildren to beautiful wedding gowns. Paul and Martha created many a jewellery box - Paul did the woodworking and Martha lined them with velvet. Her famous chocolate chip cookies were loved by all her family and every kid in Bruxelles who ever played in the backyard.
She leaves to mourn her 6 children: Leonard (Tharsile) Foidart, Marilyn (Florimond) Plaitin, Paulette (Brian) Peternaik, Mark (Heather) Foidart, Marie (Michael) Deroche, and Morris (Claudette) Foidart, 17 grandchildren: Michelle (Kevin), Peter (Kelly), Coreen, Paul (Charlene), Curtis (Tracy), Leslie (Rene), Marcie (Gilles), Florena (Trevor), Barbara (David), Karen (Brent), Darcy (Wendy), Kimberley (Shane), Colette (Tyler), Jennifer (Jason), David, Matthew and Amy; 35 great grandchildren: Lyle, Nicole, Jocelyn, Shannon, Kirstin, Andrew, Skylar, Braeden, Nathaniel, Colby, Coltyn, Joel, Carlyn, Alison, Tyson, Nikita, Natasha, Tiffany, Kenzie, Kyla, Brady, Alysia, Ethan, Aiden, Kiara, Kathryn, Anthony, Emily, Julia, Kevin, Max, Mikenah, Emyrson, Cameron and Kayden and two great great grandchildren Tyrus and Darius. She also leaves to mourn her sister Madeline Lanouette, brother in law Marcel (Madeleine) Foidart and sister in law Julie Foidart, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Martha was predeceased by her husband Paul in 1995, daughter Lisa in 1974, daughter in law Lorraine in 2002, granddaughters Tracy in 1972 and Sarah in 2003, great grandson Christopher in 1980, her parents Alphonse and Marie Mauws, Paul’s parents Julien and Marie Foidart, her brothers, sisters and in-laws: Leon (Alma), Charlie (Marie), Gerry (Julie), Zoe (Joe), Sr. Annie, Marguerite (Lorne), Andre, Adrien, Simon (Anna), Adolphe and Seraphine (Adrien).
Funeral Services will be held in the St. Gerard Roman Catholic Church in Bruxelles, MB on Friday, November 2, 2012. Recitation of the Rosary at 1:30, Funeral Mass at 2 p.m. followed by interment in the Parish Cemetery with Father John McKenzie officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
