Mary Jane Bogaert (née Devos)

Peacefully, with family by her side, our mom, grandma and great grandma, Mary Jane Bogaert, passed away at Actionmarguerite, St. Vital on December 4, 2025 at the age of 89 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Melinda (Dale) Deschouwer, Bonita (Raphaël) Yarjau, Rodney Bogaert (Daniel Latorraga) and Gail (Michael) Espenell; grandchildren Becky, Brett, Rylan (Marlise), Janelle (Taylor), Adam (Alicia), Sonia (David), Pascal (Rhiannon), Raquel (Steven), Jenaya, Dainon and Annick; great grandchildren, Jaelen, London, Harlyn, Jett and Brooks; sister Lillian (Gary) Rummery and brother Denis (Debra) Devos; sisters-in-law Pamela Devos and Evelyn Bogaert; plus numerous relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Marcel, parents Edouard and Germaine Devos, her parents-in-law Emiel and Alma Bogaert; siblings and in-laws Louis (Lorette), Roland, Agnes (John), Margaret (Marcel), George, and her special friend Garnet.

Mary Jane was born in Bruxelles, Manitoba on May 27,1936. On October 10, 1959 she married the love of her life, Marcel Bogaert. They were married for 49 years, and farmed in the Bruxelles area, until they moved to Winnipeg in 1993.

Mary Jane and Marcel enjoyed many years of playing cards with friends, travelling, camping and attending sporting events (especially those of their children and grandchildren).

Mom was well-known for her unique sense of humour and quick wit. She left a mark with her sharp, feisty, and playful personality, which was still evident in her last few years.

Mom’s dedication to looking after Dad during his lengthy illness was remarkable. She will be remembered for her loving heart, especially for family, friends and her animals.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Mary, Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive, Winnipeg. Prayers will take place at 1:30 p.m. followed by a Eulogy, and Funeral Mass will begin at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Mary Jane to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba.
