Maureen Soldier

August 23, 1975 - May 23, 2024

Maureen Soldier of Swan Lake First Nation passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 48 years.

She leaves to mourn her passing her brother Craig Soldier (Paula); two nieces, Whitney (Sean) and Teri; one nephew Kevin (Brandy); two grandchildren, Hudson and Elizabeth; her uncles and aunts, Donna McKinney, Hazel Soldier, Gloria Soldier, Ed Soldier, Ron Soldier (Marina), Fred Soldier, Danny McKinney, Tom Walker, Hazel Scott and Marina Scott.

Maureen was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence Soldier and Gladys McKinney; her partner and best friend Fred Neumann; her uncles and aunts, Linda McKinney, Audrey Soldier, William McKinney (Margaret/Gertrude), Fred McKinney, Tony McKinney, Roy McKinney (Joyce), Bob McKinney (Mary), Arthur McKinney, Tony Martin, James Soldier and Jerome Cameron; and by her grandparents, William and Eliza McKinney and Harry and Mary Soldier.

Maureen was born and raised at Swan Lake First Nation and attended Holland Elementary and Treherne Collegiate where she graduated. She worked in the Healthcare Field as a Healthcare aide and made many friends. If you knew her, she loved to laugh, it was contagious and hard to walk away from. Maureen loved family, friends, camping, cabbage patch dolls, various music, hockey, socializing and laughter. In her younger years, it didn't matter the occasion, Maureen could be found pitching up tent in the back yard and getting ready for a campfire. She always loved to share her stories and make people laugh. Maureen was a favourite aunt to Whitney, Teri and Kevin. She would take them shopping anywhere and have sleepovers at anytime. There are many stories of her life with them, and they will cherish those forever.

Due to her change in health, she moved to the city for closer access to healthcare and dialysis treatment. While living her life she became a huge Winnipeg Blue bombers Fan. She attended almost every game and knew the players and their families. Many times, her brother Craig would call her to check up on her and she would be at blue bombers store buying the next hot Bomber item. She sure had a collection that girl. We love you Maureen and we will miss you, but we will meet again.
