Maurice H. Desrochers passed away peacefully at the Baldur Care Home with family by his side on January 29, 2024 at the age of 73 years.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lisele (née Baete), his children Michelle (Raymond) Grimard, Corey (Janet) Desrochers, Lianne (Richard) Hamm and Daryl (Charlene) Desrochers; his grandchildren Skylar (Brycen Wiebe), Keyan, Bailey, Alexa, Lennox, Weston and Austin.  Also left to mourn are his brothers Donald Desrochers and David (Colleen) Desrochers and sister Debbie Kynoch and his in-laws Brenda Baete, Gerald (Heather) Baete, Agnes (George) Roels, Marilyn (Miron) Kereluk and Donald (Amparo) Baete as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and many special friends.

Maurice was predeceased by his parents Céleste and Juliette Desrochers, his parents in-law Lucien and Lorette Baete, his brother in-law Daniel Baete and sister in-law Claudette Baete.

Maurice was born March 28, 1950 in the RM of Argyle. After he quit high school he moved to Winnipeg and worked in the manufacturing industry. Soon after, he returned back to farming. He purchased his first farm in 1972 where he resided until his time in the personal care home.

In 1973 Maurice and Lisele were married, and together have farmed all their lives. They raised their family of four children in the humble farm house that was on the property. They grain farmed and had cattle, pigs, and chickens. Vehicles and machinery were an integral part of Maurice's life. He took pride in his purchases and felt accomplished. There was nothing better he liked in life than to upgrade his equipment and vehicles. He enjoyed wheeling and dealing with salesmen. Maurice loved to attend auction sales and was well known by the auctioneers. Later in life, when their kids had all grown and left home, they built a new home which he was able to enjoy for 12 years.

In Maurice's younger years, some of his extra curricular activities included playing cards, broomball, curling, Belgian bowling, and golfing. He loved music and spending time with his friends. Many Sunday afternoons were often spent going for drives looking at crops and visiting friends. He also enjoyed going out for leisurely drives on his side by side which led to going for coffee, crop scouting, and checking on cattle.
