Michel Firmin Sanders

Peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre, on Thursday, May 12, 2011, Mr. Michel Sanders of Manitou, Manitoba passed away at the age of 64 years.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Freeda (née Ketsman); 10 children:  Paul Sanders (Michelle), Rachel Pimentel (Emanuel), Denise Lavergne (Darcy), Irene Sanders (Lucas), Anita Pinette (Ian), Grace Griffith (Justin), Karl Sanders (Laurie), Adeena Manness (Graeme), Lorraine Hamblin (David) and Yvette Sanders; 28 grandchildren:  Bethany, Ava, Joshua, Jordan, Taryn, Liam, Max, Brook, Taylor, Bryn, Logan, Aidan, Riley, Jake, Zack, Markus, Parker, Mikaela, Seth, Jude, Isaac, Saul, Eve, Eli, Molly, Jax, Hayden, Erin and two more on the way.

Also left to mourn are six brothers:  Leon (Elise), Andre (Evelyn), Gaston (Judy), Gerard (Dorothy), George (Sheila) and Odiel (Margaret); three sisters:  Maria Demare, Godlieve Vanwynsberghe (Roger), Marguerite Raes (Jerry).  Michel also leaves to mourn Freeda’s mother, Martha Ketsman; her sisters:  Sheila Sanders (George), Irene Plaetinck (George) and Joyce Rudolf (Raimund); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Michel was predeceased by his parents Maurice and Gerarda (nee Devloo); brother-in-law Remi Demare and by his father-in-law Michel Ketsman.

Prayers will be held at the St. Patricks Roman Catholic Church in Manitou, MB on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church in Swan Lake, MB on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 10 a.m. with Father Ryszard Machura officiating.  Interment in the Manitou Parish Cemetery followed by lunch in the St. Léon Community Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of choice.
