Murray Sargeant
Peacefully at the Health Science Centre on May 26, 2009 after a lengthy illness, Murray Sargeant passed away at the age of 74.
His passing is mourned by his two sons, Brad (Loris) and Brent (Denise), sisters-in-law Linda, Doreen (Wendal), brothers-in-law Les (Marian), Andy (Pearl) and Lyle (Gail), along with 16 nieces and nephews and many friends. Murray was predeceased by his wife Frances, his mother Bessie and his brother Allan.
Dad was born in Winnipeg. At a young age he left home to pursue work at CIBC banks in Treherne, Arborg, Ashern, and Winkler. While working in Treherne Murray met Frances, the love of his life. They married on July 12, 1958 and enjoyed 45 years of loving marriage until mom’s passing in 2003.
Dad worked for CIBC, Booth Fisheries and North American Lumber, his final job until his retirement. In his spare time he had many hobbies including photography, fishing, woodworking and an obsession with crossword puzzles. He was also active in the Kinsmen Club and as a Cub and Scout Leader for many years. Above all, family was important to Dad. He took great pride in his sons’ achievements and supported their growth through the years. Children were Dad’s greatest pleasure. He loved visits from his nieces and nephews. Mom and Dad made many friends through the years including neighbours in Winnipeg and at Beresford Lake where they enjoyed nature’s serenity.
The family would like to thank the staff of the HSC wards H4, D5 & D4 and Dr. Dowhanik, and Dr. Arneda. They all helped both dad and his family with their kindness, thoughtfulness and care.
In accordance with Dad’s wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral Services will be held in the Rathwell Memorial Hall on Wednesday, June 3 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Bruce Faurschou officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlands Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Parkinson Society Manitoba, or a charity of your choice.
We will miss you, Dad. Rest knowing that you are loved.
