Noel Brétécher

It is with deep sorrow the family announces the passing of Noel Brétécher at the Riverview Health Centre on  June 4, 2004 after a brief struggle with cancer at the age of 59 years.

Left to cherish him, are his beloved wife of 37 years Suzanne (Labossière), son Joel (Josée Gosselin) daughter Danielle (Norbert Jamault), grandchildren Mélanie and Julie Brétécher and Justin, Dérik and Zacharie Jamault, sister Jeannette (Edward Mudray) brothers Eugene (Linda), Léo (Jean), Roger (Linda) and sister-in-law Jean.

He was predeceased by his parents Hélène and Armand and brother Dennis.

He will be very fondly remembered by Suzanne`s sibilings,  Father Gérald, Guy (Olive), Richard (Eva) and Raymond Labossière, Huguette (Gérald Vigier), Pierrette (Willis Kleebaum), Yolande Labossière and sister-in-law Fleurette Labossière, as well as many cherished nephews, nieces and many close friends.  Noel was born and raised in Toutes-Aides, Manitoba where he spent his childhood.  After high school he joined Royal Bank in February 1964, and made it his career for 32 years until his retirement in May 1996.  There he acquired many lasting friendships that were very dear to him.  In Spring of 1997, he joined Caisse Populaire Saint-Boniface, where he worked with wonderful people who were very special to him.

Dad has always been dedicated to his profession.  He will be remembered for his kind, gentle and caring nature, his deep devotion to his family and his great pride in his grandchildren.  He was a humble individual loved by everyone who had the opportunity to meet him.

His most precious memories were when he was surrounded by family and friends at the family cottage in Lac du Bonnet which became his retirement home.  His hobbies were fishing, BBQing, carpentry/renovating and entertaining.

In August 2003, Dad officially retired and moved to Lac du Bonnet eager to begin a new life at the cottage.    Unfortunately, a few weeks into his retirement he was stricken with cancer and unable to fulfill his life-long dream.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful caring team of Palliative Care 3East, Riverview Health Centre, Dr. Garcia, and community palliative care nurse Myrna.  Special thanks is extended to the personnel of Caisse Populaire who were so caring and supportive throughout his illness and to all his friends and relatives who made a difference in his life.  Special gratitude goes out to Willis Kleebaum, brother-in-law and best friend who spent countless hours comforting Noel and was always by his side to cheer him up.

Dad, we can finally take comfort in knowing you have found peace and tranquility in heaven.  May this new home embrace you with eternal love and joy.  In us, your spirit will live forever.   We will miss you dearly.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Martyrs-Canadiens Catholic Church, 289 Dussault in St. Boniface on Tuesday June 8, 2004 at 2 p.m. with Father Armand LeGal and Father Gerald Labossière officiating.  Interment to follow in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Flowers gratefully declined.  As expressions of sympathy, if friends and family so wish, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care.
