Dad was the second youngest of six children. He was proud to say, he only lived on one yard, the homestead, other than when he moved to Winnipeg to attend University of Manitoba to get his Diploma in Agriculture. While in Winnipeg, he met the love of his life, Susan. Together they had four children and for most of Dad’s life, he farmed with his two brothers.
In Dad’s early years, he loved to curl and ski. He enjoyed yearly fishing trips with friends and hunting every fall. Dad contributed to the community whenever possible. Being part of the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, and Somerset Curling Club. As well as a Manitoba Pool delegate. Dad also served as a school trustee, and was an integral part of getting the elementary school in Somerset.
Dad had a love for his family and he fought relentlessly these last six years to stay with us. Despite his unwavering courage and determination, and after fighting his illness with everything he had, like others before him, he passed away peacefully. Dad will be fondly remembered for being a loving husband, father, father in-law, brother, grandpa, uncle and friend. His greatest love was watching his grandchildren play sports.
