Maman was born and raised in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, Manitoba, where she completed her high school education in 1960. She later moved to Winnipeg to study hairdressing before returning to her hometown, where she opened and operated her own salon.
Maman eventually returned to Winnipeg, where she met and married Pete Poitras in 1968. Together, they began their life as a family and welcomed two daughters, Anne-Marie and Giselle.
They later opened St. Vital Flooring Ltd., a flooring business they proudly owned and operated until making the big move to British Columbia in 1978. Odette remained in British Columbia until returning to Manitoba in 2025. While in B.C., she was employed by Revenue Canada until her retirement.
It was in 1997 when Maman met Bruno which ensued into a loving 29-year relationship. During their time together they shared their mutual love for dancing, traveling, enjoying friends and each others companionship.
Maman had a gentle and lovely quietness about her. She was always ready to dance, travel, and visit with family and friends. Her warmth, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
