Pauline Duncan

Apr 23, 1945 — Oct 10, 2026

Pauline Duncan passed away peacefully at the Notre Dame Foyer on Saturday, October 11, 2026, at the age of 81 years.

She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Alice (Ward) Wainwright and her loving husband John Duncan.

Pauline was born in Bolton (Lancashire) in England on April 23, 1945. Following her completion of secondary school education, she attended art college and later pursued her creativity and artistic talents through becoming a window dresser and designer. She had a great love for her cat Henry, for photography, art, swimming, bird watching, motor racing and “her John”. In 1986, she married the love of her life, John Duncan. Together they began a new chapter of their lives in Canada, making the long journey from England, settling to Starbuck, Carman and then Notre Dame. Pauline faced a long journey with Multiple Sclerosis with great strength and resilience. Through the challenges she faced along the way, her illness would never define who she was. She was exceptionally talented artistically and it was very evident in her life and those around her. Her creativity shaped the person she was up until her last day. Pauline will always be remembered for the genuine person she was. She was deeply loved by those fortunate to get to know her especially the Foyer staff after 10 years of living there.

Pauline will not only be deeply missed by her friends, but for the love she shared, the memories she created and the beauty she brought into the world.
