She is survived by her loving husband: Robert, children: Monique (Gilles) Grégoire and their children: Jérémie, Danica, Stephanie, Marc (Jennifer) du Bourg and their children Aaron, Anastasia, Alexandra, Michelle (Christian Bissonnette), mom: Lucie Bernard (Côté), sister: Annette (Paul) Goddard, brothers: Louis and Reg (Lillian), mother in-law: Simone du Bourg, sisters in-law: Odile Lucyshyn and Thérèse (Nestor) Kapelus, brothers in-law: Raymond (Fern Kerr), Claude (Rosemary), Gilles (Nancy Gose), numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Rachelle was predeceased by her father Albert Bernard in 1983, father in-law Jean du Bourg in 1996 and brother in-law Elmer Lucyshyn in 1992.
Rachelle was born November 24, 1950 in St. Claude and although she left her hometown for a few years, life called her back to her home town. Her independence shined when she took a hairdressing course at the age of 16 and was a successful hairdresser for approximately 35 years. After years of being self-employed she was able to hang up her scissors and work at her second career at the St. Claude hospital in the kitchen as a dietary aide.
She was married to the love of her life May 31, 1969 and together they raised three children and are the proud grandparents to six. Only two months shy of celebrating 40 years of marriage, it was apparent to family and friends that their love was ever growing and everlasting.
Rachelle was a curling enthusiast during most of her life, playing regularly in leagues and bonspiels and watching on TV. Each of her six grandchildren has a special place in her heart and her great joy was spending time with them.
The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Viens, the nursing staff at Portage la Prairie General Hospital and St. Claude Hospital for the excellent care and kindness. A special thank you to the home care nurses, Caroline, Lorraine, Elaine and thank you to Charlotte who came by twice a week on her own time to offer Rachelle some care.
