Raymond ~’Mond’Mond~ Dion July 30, 1949 - June 10, 2018

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Raymond Dion of St. Claude, Manitoba at the age of  68 years.

Remembered always by his wife of 42 years, Doreen (née Le Néal); his family, Bryan (Yvonne) and their children, Caitlyn and Ethan; Melissa (Eric) Berard and their children Caleb, Leah and Simon; Lianne (Gordon) Gapp and their children Erica, Amelia and Makayla.  He also leaves to mourn his siblings, Odette Novog, Lionel (Nicole) and Denis (Pauline); his in-laws, Raymond (Esther) Le Néal and Laurette (Henri) Lacroix; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Raymond was predeceased by his parents, Georges Dion and Marie-Rose (née Bellec); his parents-in-law, Yves Le Néal and Rose (Deshayes); his nephew André Dion and brother-in-law Paul Novog.

Raymond was second of four kids, and the oldest brother.  He grew up on a dairy farm and from a young age was taught the value of hard work from which he developed the love of the land.  These values were put up to the challenge at a young age with the passing of his father that left him in charge of the family farm.  Despite having only his grade 8 education, the values instilled upon him by his parents allowed him to become a great farmer.  He was instrumental in the farm’s success.

His involvement stretched beyond the farm and into the community.  He was a 4-H leader and on various boards in St. Claude.  In his spare time, he loved watching Hockey playoffs and curling championship rounds.  He also had a real passion for cooking and was always creating his own recipes.  In recent years he spent much of his time enjoying visits from his grandchildren and being involved with large family functions that took place on the family farm. Seeing everyone having a good time was his “Joie de Vivre”

Funeral services will be held in the St Claude Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, June 16, 2018.  Eulogy and video tribute at 2:30 pm followed by Funeral Mass at 3 pm with Father Alain Guenou officiating.  Interment will take place after Mass at the St. Claude Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Claude Health District Foundation or to a charity of choice.
