He leaves to mourn his wife Yvonne (née Beaudette); three daughters, Brigitte (Chris) Sierens, Rachel Labossière and Guylaine Labossière (David Bonnee); seven grandchildren, Scott (Liane), Todd (Lauren), Brittany (Justin), Joshua, Justin, Zoeline and Zachary; four great-grandchildren, Tyson, Tessa, Sarah and Cole. He also leaves one brother Guy (Olive); four sisters, Huguette (Gérald Vigier), Pierrette (Willis Kleebaum), Suzanne Brétécher and Yolande Labossière; three sisters-in-law Fleurette, Eva and Annette.
As well, he will be missed by the Beaudette family and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Antoine and Fleur-Ange (née Dion); five brothers, Gaëtan, Père Gérald o.m.i., Paul, Richard and Alain; one brother-in-law Noël Brétécher and by one sister-in-law Bella Labossière.
Raymond was a teacher and principal at Somerset Collegiate Institute for many years and had often taught to more than one generation of the same family. He was proud of his French heritage and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus who volunteered many hours to his community, especially for hockey and baseball tournaments. He was always willing to give of his time and effort without expecting anything in return. He was a humble man of few words who, beneath his serious cover, loved a good prank. Many will also remember his quick wit and dry sense of humour. Raymond loved watching the antics of children and, when in his presence, you could feel his genuine interest in you. Raymond also loved gardening and quiet times, was an avid reader and rarely missed a Montreal Canadians game on television.
Funeral services will be held in the Notre Dame de la Nativité Roman Catholic Church in Somerset, Manitoba on Friday, April 8, 2016. Rosary at 1:30 pm followed by Funeral Mass at 2 pm with Father Armand Le Gal officiating. A private family interment will take place after the lunch at the Somerset Parish Cemetery.
