Remi Weicker

Peacefully at the Notre Dame Foyer on Saturday August 28, 2004, Mr. Remi Weicker formerly of Somerset, Manitoba passed away at the age of 91 years.

Left to cherish his memory is his son Ron and wife Thelma and his grandsons Dallas and Dillon.  He also leaves to mourn his sisters: Adrienne Eyjolfson and Jeannine (Raymond) Tinguely; his brothers: Marcel Weicker and Denis (Beatrice) Weicker; his sister-in-law Alice Gauthier and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife Aldéa Boisvert; his parents: Jean Baptiste Weicker and Augustine Debreuil; and by 2 sisters: Claire and Berthe.

Remi was born in Notre Dame de Lourdes on April 29, 1913.  He attended school at Notre Dame and later at Swan Lake.  As a young man he worked on the farm and also at Weicker's Cafe.  In 1934 he bought a truck and worked for a time hauling freight in the Notre Dame area.

On December 27, 1947 he married Aldéa Boisvert and together they lived and worked in Somerset where they raised their son Ron.  During these years Remi worked for Lussier's Garage as well as driving a school bus for the Mountain School Division.  Upon retirement they enjoyed visiting with family and friends, fishing excursions, and helping his son out at the farm.

After Mom's passing he continued living in his own home until deteriorating health caused him to relocate to the Notre Dame Foyer.  Here he enjoyed excellent care, the many activities, and the company of the other residents.

Prayers will be held at Adam's Funeral Home on Tuesday August 31, 2004 at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday September 1, 2004 at 2 p.m. with Father Alphonse Bongo officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
