Entouré de sa famille, Robert Deroche est décédé paisiblement le 18 mars 2016 à l’Hôpital Notre-Dame.

Il laisse dans le deuil Thérèse, née Augert, son épouse de 66 ans; leurs enfants Charlotte (Gordon) Walkty, Hubert, Jocelyne (Gilles) Laurent, Gisèle (Norman) Barnabé et Francine (Robert Bellec); leurs petits-enfants et arrière-petits enfants, Joel Walkty (Régine, Gabrielle, Élodie et Chloé), Léah Walkty, Mélanie Walkty (Tyler Fitzmaurice), Mélissa Deroche (Paul Dupasquier, Mia et Cédrik), Martin Deroche (Josée Bazin, Gabriel et Pascal), Matthieu Deroche, Marina Deroche, Réné Laurent, Chantal Laurent, Sophie Barnabé (François Auger, Félix), Josianne Barnabé (Chad Barnabé), Sara Barnabé (Tyler Schock) et plusieurs neveux, nièces et amis. Robert a été prédécédé par sa fille Nicole, son frère Georges et tous ses beaux-frères et belles-sœurs.

Robert est né à Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes et y a toujours vécu, sauf le temps de ses études à l’Université du Manitoba et à l’Institut agricole d’Oka. Il avait l’amour de l’agriculture dans le sang et, de retour au Manitoba, s’est établi sur la ferme familiale.

Profondément attaché à sa communauté, Robert y a fait maintes contributions bénévoles. Son rôle dans le 4-H et la mise sur pied de l’Atelier La Montagne et de la résidence pour personnes ayant des troubles du développement ont été particulièrement gratifiants pour lui.

Grand lecteur, Robert s’intéressait à l’histoire et aux actualités et il aimait voyager.

Surtout, Robert était un homme de famille affectueux et prévoyant qui veillait au bienêtre de ses proches. Il adorait passer du temps en famille, préférablement autour d’un délicieux repas. Sa foi profonde le soutenait dans tous les aspects de sa vie.

La famille remercie chaleureusement le personnel de l’Hôpital Notre-Dame et de la Treherne Hospital des soins professionnels et empreints de compassion prodigués à notre cher Robert.

Le service funèbre aura lieu en l’Église Catholique de Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes le mercredi 23 mars 2016 : hommage à 14 h 30, messe des funérailles célébrée par l’abbé Alain Guenou à 15 h et inhumation privée au cimetière de la paroisse.

Surrounded by his family, Robert Deroche passed away peacefully on March 18, 2016 at the Notre Dame Hospital.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 66 years, Thérèse (née Augert); their children, Charlotte (Gordon) Walkty, Hubert Deroche, Jocelyne (Gilles) Laurent, Gisèle (Norman) Barnabé and Francine (Robert Bellec); their grand-children and great-grand-children, Joël (Régine, Gabrielle, Élodie and Chloé), Léah Walkty, Mélanie Walkty (Tyler Fitzmaurice), Mélissa Deroche (Paul Dupasquier, Mia and Cédrik), Martin (Josée Bazin, Gabriel and Pascal), Matthieu Deroche, Marina Deroche, René Laurent, Chantal Laurent, Sophie Barnabé (François Auger, Félix), Josianne Barnabé (Chad Barnabé) and Sara Barnabé (Tyler Shock) along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Robert was predeceased by his daughter Nicole in 1999, brother Georges Deroche and all his brothers and sisters in-law.

Robert was born in Notre Dame de Lourdes where he spent his whole life, except during his studies at the University of Manitoba and the Institut agricole d’Oka. He had passion for agriculture in his blood and settled on the family farm after his studies.

Robert’s strong sense of community led him to volunteer throughout his life. His role in 4-H and the opening of Mountain Industries and a residence for people living with developmental disabilities were especially rewarding for him.

Inquisitive in nature, Robert enjoyed travelling and reading, taking a special interest in history and current events.

Mostly, Robert was an affectionate and devoted family man who cared deeply for his loved ones. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially when sharing a delicious meal. Throughout his life, he drew strength from his deep faith.

The family sincerely thanks the staff at the Notre Dame and Treherne Hospitals for the professional and compassionate care provided to Robert.

Funeral services will be held in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 23, 2016: eulogy and video tribute at 2:30 p.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 3 p.m. with Father Alain Guenou officiating.  A private interment will take place after Mass in the Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Notre Dame Health Foundation Box 190, Notre Dame de Lourdes MB R0G 1M0 or to Vents de Tremble (formerly La Résidence Notre-Dame and Atelier La Montagne/Mountain Industries) Box 297, Notre Dame de Lourdes MB R0G 1M0.
