Roger Menard

Peacefully at the Portage District General Hospital on Tuesday August 10, 2021, Mr. Roger Menard of St. Eustache passed away at the age of 81 years after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

He leaves to mourn his passing his siblings, Lionel Menard, Fernand Menard, Angele Loughlin, Merise Ash, Ann Marie (Ed) Schneider, Denis (Noella) Menard and Rita (Gary) Chambers; numerous nieces and nephews; many relatives and friends.

He is predeceased by his parents Romeo and Germaine (née Chabot) Menard, his brothers Louis and Gilbert and his brothers-in-law Tom Loughlin and David Ash.

Known as “Bazoo” to many around St. Eustache, Roger spent many years working as a labourer on the farm for Wilfred Bernadin.   His love for his town and faith led him to spend many years working at the local skating rink and volunteering in the community and at the Church.  He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.  You could always catch Roger having coffee daily with Fern at the local coffee shops in Elie.

Roger was a kind and generous soul who put others before himself and was always ready to lend a helping hand.  His biggest concern when he was admitted to hospital was who would take care of Fern and how Lionel was doing.

Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Eustache Catholic Church on Tuesday September 7, 2021, Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 1:30 p.m. followed by Mass. Interment will take place in the St. Eustache Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the St. Eustache Catholic Church.
