Roland Dequier

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Husband, Dad, Pépère and Old Pépère.

Roland Dequier passed away on March 3, 2026 at the Notre Dame Hospital at the age of 85.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62.5 years, Yvonne (née Rouire); his children Rick, Jacqueline (Darrell) Warkentin and Bob (Sally); his grand-children Janessa (Chris), Danitra (Riley), Josée and Brenden (Ali); and his great-grand sons Ryder, Easton, Knox, Timber, Seth and Kash.

Brother of Marcel (Dorothée), Angele† (Maurice), Odile (Bryan), Claudette (Leroy†), Norbert† (Sandra) and Rose-Marie (Jack). Brother-in-law of Georgette† (Guy†), Denise†, Maurice (Angele†), Albert† (Jeanne†), Joseph (Francine), Alice (Florent†), Raymond (Anita), Roland† (Pauline) and Diane (Ron).

Roland was predeceased by his parents Antoine and Victorine (née Oliviero) and his parents-in-law Ernest and Yvonne (née Laporte) Rouire. He also leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Dad was born on July 23, 1940 in Treherne MB and raised on a family farm with his siblings north of St. Claude. He attended Parthenay School until he left his classes in grade 8 to help his parents on the farm. In 1956, the family moved to Haywood on section 23-8-6.

In August of 1963, he married the love of his life Yvonne. Together, they farmed his parents land in Haywood, first in partnership with his brother Marcel and his family, and later with their children Rick, Jacqueline and Bob. In 1980, Triple R Simmentals was established. Dad never missed a sale and always gave his two cents on the operation right until the end. Many hours were put on the farm Ranger as Rolly would often spend afternoons touring the countryside looking at the crops and would always come back with a detailed report on who was falling behind on their work.

Roland loved spending time with family and friends; playing cards was his favourite past time, especially 500. He also loved to cheer on the Haywood Hustlers and watch his children show cattle in 4H and local fairs. He was very proud of his grand-children and their numerous accomplishments and later, had great joy watching his great-grandchildren grow.

As his health slowly declined in the last few years, he still faced the days with his same character grin. He would spend his afternoons working on puzzles and his evening cheering on his beloved Detroit Red Wings. Those who were honoured to know him will remember him as a gentle soul with a happy-go lucky personality and quick wit.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Notre Dame Hospital and to Roland's Home Care Staff for their kind support and care.

In lieu of flowers, if so desire, donations can be made to the Centre de Santé St Claude Health Centre.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the St. Denis Catholic Church in Haywood, Manitoba on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 1:30pm with Father Armand Le Gal officiating. Lunch to follow at the Haywood Community Hall. The service will be Live Streamed at www.afh.ca.
