Roland Labossière

Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, Roland Labossière passed away with his family by his side at the Lorne Memorial Hospital on October 23, 2015 at the age of 69 years. Born in Treherne on May 22, 1946, the third child of Robert and Hermance Labossière.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Suzanne Labossière of 46 years, his children: Bernard (Sherry) Labossière, Daniel Labossière, Vincent (Valerie) Labossière, Kimberley (Patrick) Roch, and his grandchildren: Kelsey (Andrew), Kristin (Joel), Bianca, Eva, and Nault.

As well he leaves to mourn his siblings: Sylvia (Denis) Bérard, Marie-Paule (Borden) Petriw, Clara (Robert) Lauzé, Paul-Émile (Claudette) Labossière, Claude (Anne) Labossière, and Francis (Diane) Labossière. He also leaves to mourn one brother-in-law Donald (Judy) Labossière and four sisters-in-law: Jeannette (Alex) Dadey, Colette Pelé, Marielle Labossière, and Marilyne (Howard) Knibbs and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Roland was predeceased by his parents, Robert in 2007 and Hermance in 2009 and one brother Jean Labossière in 2008. His in-laws Celestin Labossière in 1975, and Carmel Labossière (née Rocan) in 1992, brothers-in-law Bertrand Labossière in 1991, Maurille Labossière in 1999, Meinrad Pelé in 2001 and by one nephew William Knibbs in 1983.

Roland married Suzanne on April 26, 1969 and were blessed with four children. His love for his grandchildren will never be forgotten; he put as many smiles on their faces as they did his. Roland’s wife, family, and friends were the most important part of his life. He enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards, camping, bingo, trips, dancing, and helping others when needed.

His various occupations included operating room orderly, diesel mechanic, trucking business owner, and finally, semi driver at Boulet Brothers, making him knowledgeable in many fields. With a kind, selfless nature and a collection of “jack-of-all-trades” skills, he was always eager to help everyone with any projects that needed to be done.

Even after his cancer diagnosis, his outlook on life was still as positive as ever - he was determined to continue doing the things he cherished. Roland will always be remembered as an amazing son, brother, husband, father, Pépére, and friend.

The family is forever grateful for the excellent care and compassion by the entire team at CancerCare, and to Dr. Desmond and nursing staff at Lorne Memorial Hospital.
