Sharon Joyce Dufresne
March 26, 1956 – December 21, 2008
Sharon Dufresne passed away peacefully on the evening of December 21, 2008, at the age of 52 years.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 32 years and best friend, Harry, as well as her three children, Vince (Julie), Steve (Jaclyn), and Jessica (Jake), and her two grandchildren, Rylan and Cole. She is also survived by her mother, Emily, and her siblings, Lynda (Gil), Patti (Mike), Jack, and Donna (Hugh), as well as her sister in law, Odette and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father, Jacob, and her brother, Gary.
Sharon was raised on the Bock family farm in the Baie St. Paul area. She married Harry in June 1976 and together they raised a family at their home in Elie. Sharon and Harry were truly partners in life. They were in business together and they enjoyed traveling together. They have made numerous trips to the Caribbean, South America and Europe. They also enjoyed taking their family on numerous camping and fishing trips, as well as a couple of memorable trips down South. She was actively involved in her community, helping out with numerous different activities over the years, as well as her work with the R.M. of Cartier.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, who always put other people’s needs and feelings ahead of her own. She will be remembered as a selfless woman, who made sure that everyone else was taken care of before herself. She was very happy to become a grandmother, and although she only knew her grandsons for a short time, she made a lasting impression on them.
The family would like to thank staff of the H.S.C. Women’s Hospital, as well as Cancer Care Manitoba for their help over the past few months.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will take place on Saturday, December 27 at 2:00 at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Elie. Reception to follow at the Elie Veterans Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ovarian Cancer Canada.
