Suzanne Buydens
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother Suzanne, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday March 14, 2002 at the Lorne Memorial Hospital in Swan Lake.
Suzanne was born on January 24, 1913 in Knesselaere, Belgium and came to Canada with her family in 1920 at the age of 7. They settled in the St. Alphonse area and on October 10, 1939 she married Victor Buydens of Bruxelles. They lived with her parents for 3 years and she often spoke of working in the fields with horses along with the men. Then they made their home in Swan Lake where they raised a family of two daughters Velma and Rita. Suzanne was a very energetic woman and catered weddings etc. for the C.W.L. for fourteen years. She was also the local "Avon Lady" and kept many borders in her home. She enjoyed socializing and spent many happy hours playing bingo and cards with her friends. Her home was always open to family and friends and she was known as a great cook. She belonged to many organizations and did volunteer work. She was very devoted to her family and grandchildren and never let us down in any way, always offering her love and support. She lived a very full and satisfying life.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Victor on December 28, 1982 and her parents Henry and Irma Claeys. She was also predeceased by three brothers Alphonse, Oscar and Gerard and their spouses and by three sisters Maria (Victor) DeKoninck, Margaret (Theophile) Van De Kerckhove and Irene (Maurice) De Graeve. She is also predeceased by three sister-in-laws, Angele and Rachel Buydens and Alice DeRyck and brother-in-law Leon.
Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are two daughters Velma and Edgar Desrochers of Oak Bluff and their children Lianne (Richard), Marc (Lise) and Dean (Jenn); Rita and Eddie Goderis of Swan Lake and their children Darren and Lorianne (Dwayne). She also leaves to mourn her eight loving great-grandchildren Dylan, Logan and Taryn Picton, Jaimee, Ryder and Dawson Lytle and Ariel and Nieva Desrochers.
She is also survived by one sister Yvonne and brother-in-law Leo Desrochers and brother-in-law Emile Buydens.
She will always be remembered and sadly missed. May the good Lord keep her in his loving care. We are sure dad welcomes her with open arms. With love, good bye and 'till we meet again.
