Peacefully at the Notre-Dame Foyer on September 3, 2021, Ms. Vera Craig passed away at the age of 76 years.

She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Garry (Colleen) Hunt, Darcy Craig and Nadine (Kevin) Gates; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She also leaves one brother Lloyd Rollins and one sister Isobel Rollins; special friend Jack Waite and his daughter Tammy; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  She is predeceased by her parents, sister-in-law Bonnie and by two infant children.

Vera was born in Banff Scotland and immigrated to Canada by ship, as an infant, while barely surviving double pneumonia.

She resided in many places throughout her life but considered Bissett her home. She was saddened to leave there due to declining health conditions. Mom loved cooking and baking, which became her main employment over the years. She also loved gardening, reading, playing cards, dancing and attending coffee groups. Her love of animals would create a long list of pets over the years (cats and dogs). She leaves behind one cat, Misty.

Mom’s last couple of years were spent in Treherne, the Holland Manor, and the Notre Dame Foyer. She made many new friends during that time and really enjoyed herself, to which her family appreciated greatly.

Her family would like to thank the amazing staff at the Notre Dame Foyer for all their excellent care and all the doctors who had a hand in her care along the way.

“God looked around his garden and found an empty space. Then looked down upon this earth and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful. He only takes the best.”

As per her wishes cremation has taken place, there will be no formal funeral service at this time.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or to the Notre Dame Health Foundation.
