Wayne Robert Van Cauwenberghe

November 7, 1944 — February 6, 2026

With family members by his side, Wayne passed peacefully at 6:30 pm on February 6th, 2026 while showing the same quiet strength he has shown for all of his 81 years.

Wayne enjoyed his last 5 years with friends and neighbors in the 55+ Units in Swan Lake until his very brief hospital stay at the Rock Lake Health Centre in Crystal City where he received exceptional care.

Wayne continued to enjoy card games and board games when gathering with friends and family and played his last card game the day before entering the hospital. Whenever we would ask him how the card game went he would, with a slight tilt of the head, show a wide grin which indicated someone's wallet had become a little lighter that day.

Winter months involved regular visits with friends for Bien while Wednesdays were routinely filled with visits from Tina, Kerry and Nadine for more cards and games after sharing a lunch together.

In summer months, Wayne still made the short drive to the farm to pitch in wherever he could and contributed to another harvest this last fall.

Opportunities for a Belgian Bowling game were never passed up and evening coffee with neighbours was an activity that typically closed out the day.

Aside from these favourite things, he most enjoyed the occasional visit from Renley, Rhett and Emersyn. Those were the days where the sun shone dim because nothing shone brighter than Wayne and those 3 little faces as soon as they walked in the door.

Wayne now moves on to join his wife Diane and his son Corey. He was also predeceased by his parents Henry VanCauwenberghe and Aline (nee Goethals), his siblings: Larry, Lauraine (Gordon Sumner), Donna (Ernie Van Caeyzeele), Dolores (Ronnie DeJaegher), and brother-in-law Cam Demare; his parents-in-law Adrien Goderis and Sarah (nee Buydens) and brothers and sisters-in-law: Cecile (August Saelens), Evonne (Marcel Cleutinx), Lorette (Albert Deschouwer, Pete DesLauriers), Emile Goderis, Germaine Goderis and Rita Goderis.

He leaves to mourn his son Kerry (Nadine), daughter Tina (Dwayne Durand), his grandchildren: Tyson Van Cauwenberghe, Kendra (Luc Robidoux), Colin Durand, Denis Durand and Joel Durand and Tyler Botherel; his great-grandchildren: Renley Robidoux, Rhett Robidoux and Emersyn Robidoux; his sister-in-law Adeline Van Cauwenberghe, his brother Allen Van Cauwenberghe (Marlene), his sister Corlyse Demare, brothers-in-law Laurent Goderis, Eddie Goderis (Pat), sisters-in-law Doreen Landry (Livio Grottolo) and Louise Goderis as well as many numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
