Yvonne Dubois
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Yvonne Dubois on October 19th at the Portage Hospital with family at her side. Mom faced her illness with courage and dignity and fought it to the very end.
Mom was born at St. Claude on March 25, 1932 to Henri Chevrier and Rosalie Monchalin. She grew up and went to school in the Bell District and lived in the area all her life. She met the love of her life, Lawrence and they raised their family in a home filled with love and laughter. Mom was devoted to her family making many sacrifices for them over the years. She took great pride in them and in their accomplishments. She loved family gatherings and her "Grandma Buns" and "Grandma Jam" were special favourites. The house or dinner table was never too full. Mom enjoyed baseball, curling and old-time dancing and was an award-winning quilter.
Mom was predeceased by Dad in 1996 and our brother, Len in 1998. She will be sadly missed by her children: Barb (Dave) and grandchildren: Shawn (Natasha), Kim (Rick), Ginette (Eric), Marie (Karl), Denise (Dion), Susan, Bonnie and Aaron; Doug (Judy) and grandchildren: Jeff (Mandy), Kevin (Nathalie) and Travis (Carrie); Len's widow, Yvette and grandchildren: Jason (Janet), Trevor and Melanie; 14 great-grandchildren; foster children: Tom (Marielle) Bergeron & Michael, John & Leon Bergeron and Darrel Ouellette; her siblings: Anita, Remi, Pat and Roger, numerous nieces and nephews and her special four-legged friend and companion, Sandy.
Prayers at Adam's Funeral Home, Notre Dame de Lourdes at 7 pm. Sunday, October 22. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Claude Roman Catholic Church on Monday, October 23, 2006 at 3 pm with Fr. Celestin Malengu Mubaya officiating. Interment to follow at St. Claude Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Society or to the Portage District General Hospital Foundation.
The family is very grateful for the wonderful care provided to Mom by her home care workers, Dr. Price and hospital staff.
