She also leaves to mourn 3 sisters: Suzanne Augert, Germaine Roy and Marie Chanel; 1 brother: Chris (Lorraine) Laporte; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Ernest in 1978, her daughter Denise in infancy, daughter Georgette in 1982, great-grandaughter Katie in 1988, her father Louis Laporte in 1970 and her mother Germaine Laporte in 1962.
Mom was born June 7, 1910 in France. Along with her parents, they ventured to Canada in 1911. She married Ernest Rouire in 1933 and spent the majority of their married life in Haywood, Manitoba.
Mom possessed a great love for life. She was always seen smiling and laughing with others and cherished time spent with family and friends. She was always willing to help family members in any way she could. Her family was extremely important to her and she meant everything to us.
Mom was a great wife and the best mom you could ask for. She loved to cook for her family, she was a great baker and gardener but best of all, she was a wonderful knitter. She spent many hours making slippers and scarves for all the children. She also made beautiful afgans for each of her newborn grandchildren. Till the very end Mom was a very giving person. She was a great entertainer and loved to sit and talk about the old days. Mom has been a great influence and role model for her children and grandchildren. Throughout her life she had tremendous faith in the Lord.

I pray when risen from the dead,
I may in glory stand
Perhaps a crown upon my head,
But four needles in my hand.
I never learned to sing or play,
So let no harp be mine,
From childhood to my dying day
Plain knitting's been my line.
And so, accustomed to the end,
In plying useful stitches
I'll be content, if given to knit,
The little angel's britches.
