Zelma Judie McDonald

Peacefully at the Notre Dame Foyer on Saturday, January 29, 2022, Mrs. Zelma McDonald of Carman, Manitoba passed away at the age of 80 years.

She leaves to mourn her passing three children, Ian McDonald (Karen), Rodney (Amy) McDonald and Allen McDonald; three grandchildren, Jaden Ackroyd, Kaylee McDonald and Cooper McDonald; and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.  She was predeceased by her husband Harry McDonald in 2010.

Zelma started her nursing career at the old Carman Hospital in the late 1960’s only to meet Harry McDonald, who was a patient there, and later marry and have 3 sons.  She continued nursing at Carman Memorial Hospital while raising her family and started a well known footcare business.  She finished her nursing career and finally retired after working at the new Carman Memorial Hospital, but remained doing her footcare business and living in Carman.  She later moved to the Notre Dame Foyer Care Home to be cared for where she continued to have her “inner nurse” shine through.  Whether it was folding laundry, wheeling other residents to the dining hall for meals or helping to make cookies, she always wanted to help others.
