Alice was born on June 29, 1932 in Bruxelles, Manitoba. She grew up on the family farm near Lake 7 and attended Ste. Marie School where she took piano lessons for several years. She gave piano lessons at the St. Alphonse School from 1949-1951. On October 23, 1951, she married Jean Chevalier at Bruxelles and together had 9 children. They settled on the home farm, and in addition to grain farming, they raised Herefords for many years. In 1969, they built a hog barn and raised pigs until 1972, when they embarked into the dairy business. Mom and Dad retired in 1983.

Music, travelling, the great outdoors and gardening had become big interests for Mom, along with a great love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom and Dad visited Newfoundland, Alaska and many points in the states. As kids, we could not wait for that postcard to come home saying what we were going to get. She enjoyed many hours on the phone with her Mother and her Tante Lucie.

We celebrated her 83th birthday this year, and she enjoyed it. She also enjoyed her trips to Minnedosa to Donald and Charlene’s hotel to spend a few days, there she met many new people. Mom and Dad, along with Elaine Heirman were fortunate to land front row seats to Tommy Hunter, she even met “Elvis” in Vegas at her granddaughters wedding. We will remember her baking, her cinnamon buns, her quiet manner, her love for family visits at home. We will miss our Mom, Grandmaman and Great Grandmaman.

Prayers and visitation will be held at Adam’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 7 pm. Funeral Service will be held at the Swan Lake Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 30, 2015. Eulogy and Video at 1:30 pm followed by Mass at 2 pm with Father John Te Nguyen officiating. Interment and Lunch will take place in Bruxelles after Mass.
