It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, at the age of 92 years. With family by her side, she peacefully passed away on April 21, 2008 at the St. Claude Pavilion.
Alice, as she was known, was predeceased by her beloved husband Leon in 1987. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children Agnes (Guy), Simone (Larry), Jeannette (Richard), Gerald (Alice), 12 grandchildren & 12 great-grandchildren. Alice will also be greatly missed by her surviving sister Yvonne (Joseph) Philippot as well as numerous nieces, nephews and family.
Alice was born June 12, 1915 in Nederbrakel, Belgium and at the age of nine, immigrated with her family to St. Lupicin Manitoba. It was in Notre Dame de Lourdes Manitoba that Alice met, fell in love and married Leon Thorimbert.
Alice was known for her gutsy determination. She was never afraid of hard work and had a great ability to work with her hands. She was renowned for her baking, sewing, beautiful quilts and needle point.
Alice was very proud of the life that she and her husband made for their children in rural Manitoba and of her Flemish Ancestry.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at the St. Claude Pavilion. The dignity, compassion and respect that were given to Alice and her family was noted and truly appreciated. You are true angels and we simply can’t thank you enough for all that you did.
Prayers will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at Adam’s Funeral Home, Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Claude Catholic Church, St. Claude Manitoba with Fr. Celestin J. Malengu Mubaya officiating, with internment to follow at the St. Claude Cemetery. Fellowship and lunch will follow at the St. Claude hall.
