Obituary

Anne Marie Gray
(née Preteau)

After a long and courageous struggle with ALS, our mother Anne Marie Gray, passed peacefully on the morning of October 28th, 2020.

Left to cherish her memory and her indomitable spirit are her children Lise, Maurice (Lori), Denis, Robert, Jean, Allan, and Gilles (Tammy); her grandchildren; Farrah (Chris), Jeremy, Christopher and Matthieu. She leaves her mourn her passing her loving brothers and sisters; Ida (Luc), Gilles (Darlene), Edith, Lucien (Sylvia), Lina (Marcel), Jos (Ida), Ulysses (Bev), Lorraine (Ben), Irene (Gilbert), Emilie (Marcien), Emile, Michel (Monica) and Raymond.  as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Mother was predeceased by her parents, Florence and Onésime Preteau and brother-in-law Johnny.

Mother was a tireless caregiver, whether she was caring for clients while working at Homecare, in the St. Malo area, or as in the early years of her life helping to raise her many siblings, then on to raise a large family of her own.  What most would consider a challenge, our Mother saw an invitation to teach and succeed.  She freely gave of her wisdom and knowledge and those who accepted her gifts reaped the benefits of them.  Mother was always a champion of the less fortunate, and with little means of her own, often gave what she had, in order to bring comfort and dignity to those least considered.  Her rest is well deserved and she is with her loved ones once again.

Heartfelt thanks to all the people at the Foyer Notre Dame for their unwavering care and dedication to the residents, with particular affection to the nurses and attendants who so gently cared for Mother and afforded her the two most precious gifts they could give, dignity and respect, and for that we are forever grateful.
