Obituary

David James McCreery

On Thursday, February 25, 2021 Dave McCreery of Treherne, Manitoba passed away suddenly at the age of 63 years.

He leaves to mourn his wife Terry (née Payette); their three daughters, Chrystal (Greg) Landreville, Lindsey (Cory) Roels and Courtney (Chris) Laing and six grandchildren, Peyton, Aaron, Cailyn, Cole, Kaycee and Landon.  He is also survived by his brother Bill (Audrey) McCreery, his sister Norma (Dennis) Bataluk and his brothers and sisters in-law, Simone Major, RoseAnne (Wes) Friesen, RoseLynn (Jules) Poiron, Daren (Bonnie) Van Den Bussche, Denise Van Den Bussche and Norbert Major along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Dave was predeceased by his parents Norman and Olive McCreery, his mother-in-law Sylvia Payette (née Therrien), father-in-law Ronald (Cecile) Payette and brother-in-law Denis Van Den Bussche.

David James McCreery was born July 3rd 1957 in Treherne Manitoba. His parents were Norman and Olive McCreery. He had 2 siblings, his sister Norma and his brother Bill.

Dave was a farm boy from the day he was born and he stayed and worked that same farm until his last day. He loved his animals and there were so many….there were horses and cows, pigs and sheep, chickens and his favourite was always a dog! Along with having his own farm Dave started work for Pritchard Brothers in 1985 and stayed employed with them to the end.

Dave met Terry in 1977. They were married on July 12th 1980. One year later they welcomed their first beautiful daughter Chrystal. In 1983 Lindsey was born and one year later Courtney the spitfire came. I know what you are thinking…3 girls with a dedicated farmer for a dad…well he taught them. They all learned how to care for the animals. Dave would take the girls everywhere with him and he would sing the whole way. Hauling water, to the bush, to L&J's, to the curling rink, all 4 would pile in his truck.

As the girls grew up and moved on he always supported their decisions and with time he welcomed 3 son in laws into the family. Greg in 2003, Chris and Cory in 2007. His first precious granddaughter Peyton came in 2006 and he was blessed with 5 more by 2011. His 3 granddaughters and 3 grandsons were his pride and joy and he loved to share their accomplishments with whomever would listen.

Unfortunately time was not on our side and Dad very suddenly passed away on February 25th. Our hearts were all broken that we never had the chance to spend one more day with him and to say a proper goodbye. We will forever cherish our memories of him and we hope you find peace in your place with God. Love you forever dad!!!
