Diane Van Cauwenberghe
(née Goderis)
Peacefully with her husband by her side, Diane Van Cauwenberghe of Swan Lake, Manitoba passed away at the Lorne Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at the age of 74 years.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 54 years, Wayne; her children, Kerry (Nadine) Van Cauwenberghe and Tina (Dwayne) Durand; her grandchildren, Tyson, Kendra (Luc Robidoux), Colin, Denis, Joel and Tyler and her great-granddaughter Renley Robidoux. She also leaves to mourn her passing her siblings and in-laws; Laurent Goderis, Lorette Deschouwer, Louise Goderis, Doreen Landry (Livio), Eddie Goderis, Allen (Marlene) Van Cauwenberghe, Adeline Van Cauwenberghe, Ronald De Jaegher and Corlyse Demare, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Diane is predeceased by her son Corey Van Cauwenberghe, her parents Adrien and Sarah (née Buydens) Goderis, her siblings, Cecile (August) Saelens, Evonne (Marcel) Cleutinx, Emile Goderis, her in-laws Germaine Goderis, Albert Deschouwer, Pete Deslauriers, Delores De Jaegher, Rita Goderis, Larry Van Cauwenberghe, Lauraine (Gordon) Sumner, Camille Demare and Donna (Ernie) Van Caeyzelle.
Everyone who knew and loved Diane will have shared and benefited from her many passions in life. Diane’s first priority has always been family and friends. But her garden, flower beds, quilts and crafts was where she dedicated her tireless efforts and the results were never less than perfect. Diane’s grandchildren remember and cherish the arts and crafts they made while spending time with Grandma, many still in their possession and others still on display in the house and yard.
Diane could outpace anyone in farm work, gardening and cooking. The excellent meals she prepared from home grown ingredients were shared by so many at her table on so many occasions. Left overs were abundant in case others came to visit and everyone was welcome. Christmas was the family event of year, always on December 24th and was attended by a large number of nieces and nephews. Diane’s efforts and joy at Christmas reminded us all that surrounding yourself with loved ones is what it is all about.
We will continue to witness Diane’s love and passion by the creations she has left for us. From the extended family she has touched, to the family farm, the Swan Lake Beautification Project and many quilts, showing every season and many milestones in the stitches, we can see how she applied her hands and her heart.
We are all blessed with the many things she left us to enjoy forever in her memory.
