Obituary

Henriette Ida Bernardin
 (née Lachance)

Mom passed away peacefully at the age of 95, on Thursday December 3, 2020. Henriette was born to Henri and Albina Lachance on June 15, 1925. She grew up in St. Eustache and married the love of her life, Wilfred, on September 25, 1946. She raised 11 children while helping on the farm.

Henriette spent much of her time in the fields alongside Wilfred and their children. She also spent her time teaching many life skills to her children such as, baking, canning, bread making and how to make her famous homemade noodle soup. She enjoyed watching wheel of fortune, doing word jumbles, crocheting, playing bingo and playing cards, especially cribbage with Wilfred. She loved to dance and sing in the church choir. Once their kids left home, Henriette spent time camping and fishing with Wilfred, travelling and enjoying each others company.

Henriette is survived by her children: Norman, Lorne (Gisèle-deceased), Alfred (Gisèle), Rosemarie (Robert) Schmidt, Walter, Gisèle (David) Klaassen, Lucille (Clarence) Ross, Harry, Simone (Gerry) Syrenne, Marilyn (Alan) Hadley, Maurice (Margaret); her 30 grandchildren along with their spouses; 55 great grandchildren along with their spouses; 2 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her one brother Raymond (Eveline), and sisters: Estelle (Harold-deceased, Olivier-deceased), Rollande (Leo-deceased), Marielle (Gilbert), Beatrice (Jack-deceased) along with her sister-in-law Anna.

Besides the many named above, she was also predeceased by her parents, Henri and Albina, her husband Wilfred, his parents, Honoré and Henrietta Bernardin, his siblings and their spouses; her brothers Albert, Edouard and Benoit; her sisters Alfreda, Gertrude, Berthe, Laurette and Clemence as well as her sister in law Laura and brothers-in-law  Roland, Adrien and Gilbert; her granddaughter-in-law Nathalie and great grandson Alexandre.

Mom lived a long full and happy life and her greatest gift was loving her family unconditionally.

To love a mom and then to part, is the greatest trial to the human heart. A cherished smile, a heart of gold, the dearest mother a heart could hold. Beautiful memories are treasures ever, of happy memories when we were together. With aching hearts we whisper low, God Bless you mom, we miss you so.

Private family prayers and video tribute will be held at the St. Eustache Catholic Church on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 2 p.m. Prayers will be live-streamed for family and friends.  Funeral services and interment will be held at a later date.

We extend our thanks to the wonderful staff at West Park Manor.
