It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Marcel J. Dufault in Portage la Prairie on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the age of 77 years.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Gail Dufault, his children Michel (Nancy) Dufault, Gisèle (Randy) Perkin, René (Sharon) Dufault and Suzanne (Mike) Macina; his step children Kim (Kyle) Gallant and Stef (Brett) Legault; his grandchildren, Kendra Thompson, Cory Perkin, Tyler Macina, Nick Macina, Emilie Dufault (Brayden), Patrick Dufault (Tiffany), Eric Dufault (Elleena), Angela Macina, Livia Legault and Luke Legault as well as his great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Marcel was predeceased by his first wife Diane Dufault (née Mondor), his parents Edmond and Clemence Dufault and his brothers Denis and Lucien Dufault.

Marcel was involved in various organizations in the community such as being the president of the local Caisse Populaire, a director at the local Co-operative movement and also a trustee for the St. Denis Parish. He was a councilor for ward 3 in the RM of Grey during the 80s as well as being a board member of the St. Claude Veterinary Clinic and local hospital and manor boards.

Marcel was a highly sociable, intellectual man and superhero, our rock of the family! He was a humble, healthy and hard working man. Even at his age, he wanted to continue farming. He is also a devoted catholic and extremely proud grandfather!

We will never forget you Papa, rest in peace! Love you till we meet again!

The family would like to thank STARS Ambulance, by standers, nurses and doctors at the Portage District General Hospital and surrounding area for all your care and compassion and assistance.

Le 9 avril 2021, notre cher papa à l’âge de 77 ans, nous a laissé soudainement! Il était né le 12 juin 1943 à l’hôpital St. Boniface! Marcel demeurait sur la ferme au sud de Haywood depuis 1965 jusqu’a présent.

Un gros merci à la famille, voisins, amis ainsi que les gens de la communauté pour tous vos gestes de gentillesse. Marcel sera toujours parmi vous!

Papa, tu seras toujours dans nos cœurs et pensées! On vous aime beaucoup et vous êtes réuni avec notre chère maman au ciel!

A come and go viewing will be held at the Haywood Catholic Church on Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 6:00-8:00pm.  Please call Adam’s Funeral Home at 204-248-2201 to book a viewing time.

A Private Family Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Haywood Catholic Church. Memorial Service at 1:30 p.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 2 p.m. with Father Peter Le Van Ngu officiating.
