Obituary

Myrna Frost

(née Kristjanson)

Peacefully at the Deer Lodge Personal Care Home on Monday, January 4, 2021, Mrs. Myrna Frost passed away at 85 years.

Her memory will be cherished by her children, Wesley (Jacqueline) Frost and Dawn (Richard) Rathert, her grandchildren, Trevor (Tara-Leigh), Jarrett, Jasmine, Kirstyn (Geoffrey), Devon, Aaron and Selene; her great-grandchildren, JJ, Scarlett and Riley. She also leaves to mourn her brother Dennis (Margaret) Kristjanson and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Sidney in 2007.

Mom was born on Red Deer Point.  She lived most of her years in Winnipeg but enjoyed getting back out to the country when she could and then later retired to Rathwell.  Mom and Dad were married for 47 years.  They loved to go old time dancing and taking Sunday afternoon drives together. They were both season ticket holders for the Winnipeg Jets.  Mom and Dad also enjoyed the outdoors; camping and boating was a joy for many summers.

Mom also enjoyed her garden and she loved to cook and bake for her family, who meant the world to her. She had many special recipes that had been passed down to her family.  Her family will forever remember her awesome cheesecake that she made every year at New Years as well as her vinarterta.  Mom was always knitting and sewing, she has made more sweaters and baby blankets than you could count, along with lots of wool socks and mitts, which were mostly made while watching TV. Mom also made a lot of her own dresses and her daughter, Dawn’s wedding gown and all the bridesmaid dresses.

Mom spent more than 20 years volunteering with the girl guide organization. She was a leader for brownies. guides, pathfinders and rangers, often having more than one age group at a time.  In her later years, she was a member of the Red Hat ladies.  There was no doubt that Mom was a helper and a doer.  She was always there for people, whether it be driving them to appointments, cooking for them, helping with clothing, or just a visit. She volunteered with many different groups over the years and she was always there to help.  She will be remembered and missed by her community and especially by her family.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Zinovy and the entire team in Tower 7 at Deer Lodge Center for the care, compassion and friendship they gave Mom during her time there.
