Obituary

Paul-Emile Labossière

Paul-Emile Labossière of Somerset, Manitoba passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the age of 69 years.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Claudette (née Lussier); his children, Jérémie (Tanya Pfefferle), Jolène (Daniel Siwak) and Amanda (Brandon Forbes); his six grandchildren, Avery, Éva, Ethan, Owen, Zoey and Ella. He also leaves to mourn, his siblings, Sylvia (Denis) Bérard, Marie-Paule (Borden) Petriw, Clara (Robert) Lauzé, Claude (Anne) Labossière and Francis (Diane) Labossière; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Suzanne Labossière, Bonnie Labossière, Lionel (Carol) Lussier and Claire (Normand) Mabon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is predeceased by his parents Robert and Hermance (née Labossière); his siblings, Roland and Jean; his parents-in-law, Firmin and Lorenza (née Lavallée) Lussier.

A born conversationalist, Paul-Emile never walked past someone he recognized without stopping to at least say hello.  And when he didn't see a familiar face, he would strike up conversations with complete strangers, always able to find some kind of connection or common ground.  His passion for truck driving allowed him to travel North America during most of his life.

Paul-Emile spent a lot of time in his younger years surrounded by close friends and family, marrying the love of his life Claudette on May 6, 1972 and he gave his wife and children many fond memories which will forever be cherished.  He especially loved family camping trips, which were often enjoyed with many other families.

Paul-Emile felt very fortunate since the bladder cancer in 1999 and lung cancer in 2001 to see all 3 of his children graduate University and marry the loves of their lives.  He was also very grateful for any time spent with his dear friends and family, and he loved spending time in the community - going to socials, auctions, hockey games, curling, and of course, going out for coffee at the Somerset Food Bar.

In recent years, he enjoyed spending time as "Pepère" with his 6 grandchildren, whom he all loved dearly.  Paul-Emile's smile and spirit will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his wife, his children and spouses, his grandchildren, his family and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Prayers for family and close friends will be held at Adam’s Funeral Home on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité Roman Catholic Church in Somerset on Saturday, May 5, 2018.  Music, eulogy and video tribute at 2 p.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 2:30 with Father Paulin Akpapupu officiating.  Interment will take place after Mass at the Somerset Parish Cemetery.
