Pauline Chabot
(née Desilets)
On September 26, 2023 just 50 days short of her 100th birthday, our mother Pauline Chabot of Elie, Manitoba, peacefully passed with all of her children by her side. She was born November 15, 1923 in Elie, Manitoba to Pamela and Donat Desilets. On July 25, 1946 she married Edouard Chabot.
She was predeceased by her husband Edouard, son Ronald and grandson Beau Jais. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Marilyn (Ron), Lucille (Leonard), Vivian (Henry), Philip (Alviera) and Gerry (Wendy) and daughter in-law Trudy (Ron) along with 11 grand-children and 16 great-grand-children. She is also survived by her younger sister Des (Stella) Borrie.
Mom was known for being a good cook and having a welcoming, open table. She was a great seamstress, sewing for all her daughters’ weddings. Mom spent many hours volunteering for the community, driving friends to appointments, picking up groceries, and volunteering for the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. After having done the census for many years, she was well known throughout the community.
Mom was an avid bowler for many years. In her later years, she took great joy in playing cards and spending time at the casino with friends and family. She also hardly ever missed a game of the Blue Jays and The Jets.
The funeral, preceded by a viewing, will take place at the Elie Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, in Elie MB on Saturday, September 30th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Riverview Health Center.
