Roger Lebeau

We are sad to announce the passing of Roger Lebeau at the Rock Lake Personal Care Home on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at the age of 92 years.

He leaves to cherish his memory his second wife Alice DeDecker (née Barsalou); his children, Leona (Ron) Legary, Glenda (Roger) Granger, Mark (Nicole) Lebeau, Desmond Lebeau and Norman (Joanne) Lebeau; his grandchildren, Randy, Debbie (Russ), Nicole, Richard (Andrea), Vanessa (Jeff) and Justin; his great-grandchildren, Madison, Christian, Elijah, Taren, Reese, Noah and Aiden. He also leaves to mourn his passing, Alice’s family; Donna DeDecker, Brenda (Aime) Van Damme, Brian (Bev) DeDecker, Martyn (Leslie) DeDecker and their families; his siblings and in-laws, Hilda Lebeau, Albin (Adrienne) Lebeau, Laurence Marcq, Gilberte Combs, Reynald (Celine) Lebeau, Joe (Maggie) Baete, Rose Van De Kerckhove, Marie Ange Godard, and Annie Baete, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is predeceased by his first wife Angele Lebeau (née Baete); his great-granddaughter Sienna Kunka; his grandson-in-law Chris Arns; his siblings and in-laws, Bertrand Lebeau, Grace (Art) Catteeuw, Emmanuel Marcq, Garth Combs, Armel Lebeau, Lucien (Lorette) Baete, Alice (Richard) Van De Kerckhove, Germaine (Marcel) Haegman, Lorne Van De Kerckhove, Felix Godard, Madeleine (Leon) Fifi and Marcel Baete.

Born August 11, 1928, to Albert and Azail Lebeau on NW1-4-13 in the Glenora area, the sixth of eight children.

The growing up years were happy days. Roger had a love of horses and showed them for years at local fairs. Roger went to school at Zepher, Bruxelles and Baldur. Entertainment was shows, dancing and visiting. After high school, Roger taught one year at Hazelwood SD north of Deleau, MB. He then started farming with his father and brothers until he went on his own. On October 4, 1952, he married Angele Baete of Holland, Mb. They moved to 11-4-13E ½ and did mixed farming for many years. Roger and Angele bought E ½ 11-4-13 from Albert Lebeau, NW36-3-13 from Arthur Lindsay Estate (1962) and SE1-4-13 from Ralph Ballentine (1990). Roger and Angele had a family of 5. Roger was civic minded and was a member of Pool Elevators of Glenora, Glenora Hall Board, Glenora School, Mariapolis Town Board, Mariapolis Friendship Club, Mariapolis church board, Councillor for Ward 1 Argyle Municipality, Mariapolis Credit Union. He was an active member of Mariapolis Friendship Club. After Angele’s passing in 1995, Roger married Alice DeDecker in 1996.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Rock Lake Personal Care home for the excellent care they gave Dad throughout his stay. Like Dad always said “They take good care of me here”

A Private Funeral service will be held at Mariapolis Catholic Church on Friday, July 30, 2021.  Memorial Service at 1:30 p.m. followed by Funeral Mass with interment in the Mariapolis Parish Cemetery. The service will be broadcasted on 88.5FM outside the church
