Obituary

Rose Philippe

Peacefully, on December 11, 2020, Rose Philippe passed away at Health Sciences Center at the age of 89.

She was the youngest in the family of François and Marie-Anne (Guigueno) Philippe, both originally from Bretagne, France.

She was predeceased by her siblings; Julienne (Dion), Louis, Julien, Bernadette, Yves, John, Germaine, Sr. Marie SGM, and by her nephew Gilbert Dion.

She is survived by niece Yvette Dion of Winnipeg, by Gilbert’s children; Michel Dion, Marc Dion, Melanie Dion, their families, and their mother, Louise Dion. Also left to mourn her passing are her sister-in-law, Pamela Philippe, her nieces Denise and Susan, and their families in BC.

Rose était fière de son héritage Breton et elle célébrait cet héritage chaque 15 août avec les autres familles de descendance bretonne dans la communauté de St. Claude.

Teaching was her lifetime career, from Aubigny in 1950 to Lorette, St. Malo and Flin Flon, then on to Winnipeg. She took a year off to study at the Sorbonne in Paris, a time she cherished.. In later years, she moved back to her home town of St. Claude where she returned to teaching half time while looking after her aging mother.

She enjoyed her visits to France with her sister Germaine. Together, they traveled to many regions of Canada and Europe. In retirement, she enjoyed organizing various activities at the Club d’Âge d’Or in St. Claude. There, she found joy and fulfillment with her friends, dedicating many hours to the Club.
