Mom attended school at the convent in Bruxelles until the eighth grade. She attended Marvel Beauty school and got her hairdressing license and ran a Beauty Salon in Glenboro, until “Dad came along”, as she would always say. Rose and Lorne were married on October 28, 1953 and started their life on a farm near Somerset, where they lived until moving to town in 2001.
Mom was the original “recycler” and never threw anything away, she always found a use for something. Although she repurposed many things, she was not afraid of a good fire. It is possible this is where we all got our love of a good bon fire. Mom had many other talents and hobbies, she took up quilting and made many “Log Cabin” Quilts, often gifted as wedding presents. She loved her large garden, reaping the benefits with her canning and beautiful flowers.
Rose was well known as a trickster, she loved a good joke and to play a good prank. She loved Halloween, more the tricks than the treating. She was very involved in her community and participated in community events. She was always up for a visit, her home was always open, just remember to call first.
The family would like to extend their most sincere thanks to the nurses and staff at the Foyer Notre Dame for the exceptional and compassionate care.
