Thérèse Durand

Thérèse (Terry) Marie Durand (née Beliveau), 91, of Okotoks, Alberta passed away peacefully on April 27, 2023 with family members by her side.

She was born to the late Antoine and Monique Beliveau on May 10, 1931 in Eriksdale, Manitoba. She was married to the late Raymond (Ray) Durand on June 2, 1951. They lived together in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba until 1963 when they relocated to southeastern Saskatchewan. In 2016, after 65 years of marriage, they moved to Okotoks, Alberta.

Terry is survived by her six children and their spouses: Alice (husband Dan); Robert (wife Louise); Annette (husband Joseph); Marcel (wife Lori); Rene (wife Menerva) and Gilles (wife Marlene). She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren: Ryan, Melissa, Trevor, Derek, Colin, Jennifer, Trisha, Jordan, Carson, Lindsay, Christine, Carolyn, Michelle. Nine great-grandchildren also survived her: Jeffrey, Emma, Aidan, Avery, Zuma, Harlow, Colin, Benson and Morgan as well as three siblings: Arthur, Albert and Phillip. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 70 years in 2021 as well as her siblings Jean, Alphonse and Louise.

Although Terry worked outside the home in several business ventures with her late husband, she is lovingly remembered as a nurturing homemaker. She opened her home with a warm heart of hospitality where home-cooked meals and freshly baked bread and desserts were normal fare. Aside from helping others, dancing was one of her favourite activities. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is surrounded by song and now dances freely – no more pain, no more tears and no more sorrow!

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Notre Dame de Lourdes Parish Cemetery in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba with lunch to follow at the Club d'Age d'Or Notre Dame. . 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brenda Stafford Foundation, Calgary, Alberta.
