Gisèle passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, at the Altona Community Health Centre on Monday, November 7, 2016 at the age of 74 years.

Gisèle leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband Henri Ouellet; their children, Marcel Ouellet, Denis Ouellet, Richard (Rachelle) Ouellet and Brigitte Robidoux (Terry Fennell); 10 grandchildren, Zoé, Éric, Benoît, Jocelyne, Vincent, Alex, Jaclyn, Lexie, Isabelle and Christine. She also leaves to mourn six brothers, Aimé (Anita), Roger (Irene), Hervé (Anne Marie), Fernand (Solange), Gilles (Huguette) and Aurele (Stella); three sisters-in-law, Florence Remillard, Rita Trépanier and Rose Mailloux; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Gisèle was predeceased by her parents, Léo and Ida Remillard and by one brother Robert Remillard.

Despite the initial cancer in 1974, this strong character of unwavering faith in God would bear a fourth child and prevail over two further challenges with cancer. In retirement and without fanfare, she dedicated talents and resources to help the underprivileged. Camping quilting and preparing feasts would take up whatever leisure time was available. With her passing, God has added a noteworthy piece to His “heavenly quilt”. In calm or stormy seas, Jesus was her beacon; to those who knew her, she will continue to be a significant source of inspiration.

Funeral services will be held in the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, November 12, 2016. Viewing and prayers 1 p.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. with L’abbé François- Xavier Lutumba officiating. Interment will take place immediately after the Mass at the St. Joseph Parish Cemetery.
