I just heard of Rick's passing today and am so shocked. I met Rick in College and have stayed in touch through the years. I pray that you find some comfort knowing how many lives he touched and in the knowledge of how much he loved his family. He spoke of you, especially Diego, every time we met.

To Rick's family and all his friends...
I worked with Rick while just starting out as a camera person at CKX Brandon. He taught me a great deal about the business as well as how to enjoy those days when things were less than ideal. To this day it is his voice I hear when ever I hear a reporter doing a stand up say "...3,2,1..."
Not sure how many people might recall his Silver Honda Civic. He named it 'The Silver Sow', a reference related to the '70s TV show WKRP in Cincinnati.
Rick was a leader in the news room of the station. As a senior reporter in a morning meeting often populated with newbie reporters and camera people fresh out of school, he had a way of making us feel OK about our assignments as well as enjoying the high stressed deadline based work environment.
I remember Rick fondly and apply the lessons he imparted, sometimes with his own particular brand of humor (I never knew if he was kidding or not when he mentioned my tenuous employment future at CKX).
My thoughts are with you during this difficult time....

Our sincere condolences on the passing of Rick. Rick carried a very large cross and will now be at peace, ready for his eternal reward. In spite of his trials, that smile, Rick's famous smile, seemed to be ever present. Over the past few years, Rick and I engaged in some very entertaining and serious discussions, crazy games of "bien", and some light hearted laughs! I will miss this. How we enjoyed the times he spent here. Rest in peace Rick!
