Sharon Chalmers

(née Windsor)

August 16, 1935 - February 3, 2016

Unexpectedly, but peacefully on February 3, 2016, Sharon passed away at Lorne Memorial Hospital.

She was predeceased by her parents Jim and Enid Windsor, her brother Wayne Windsor and his wife Shirley.

Sharon will be missed by her husband Lloyd and children Murray, Patti (Bill) Matheson, Jan, Norma (Don) Cnudde, Nancy (Doug) Furness and Leigh (Chris) Karpinsky. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren; David and Breanne Chalmers, Nick (Danielle) Matheson, Katie (Dustin O’Ferrall), Roberta Matheson, Ian and Scott Chalmers, Tori (Andy Nolloth) and Kelsey Cnudde, Allison, Gillian and Shannon Furness, Madison and Reese Karspinsky. Also, mourning her passing is her brother Dale (Gail) Windsor, sister-in-law Doreen (Paul) Bromley and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon lived her early years in Pilot Mound until her marriage to Lloyd in 1953. At this point she moved to the family farm in the Kingsley community, where she became a homemaker and caregiver to her ever-growing family. A wonderful cook, she was always able to expand her meals to feed the crews in the field or whomever “dropped by”! Her beautiful flower gardens and African violets attested to her horticultural gifts.

A gifted musician, Sharon was church organist for various charges beginning in Pilot Mound Anglican Church when she was in her early teens up until her final service this December at Swan Lake United Church - an almost 70 year span!

Mom delighted in her children and grandchildren and their many gifts whether musical, artistic, academic, or athletic.

A Celebration of Sharon’s life will be held Monday, February 8, 2016 at 2 pm at St. Martin of Tours Parish in Swan Lake, Manitoba with Reverend Allison Halstead. Interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
